We went to our church's 24th of July party. We did a pioneer walk with our “wagons”, ate a good dinner, and Sean was even on the winning team of a potato peeling contest. Be sure to check out our flickr section for the pictures of our wagon with Khai.

For those of you that don’t know, the 24th of July is, it is our religion’s “Pioneer Day”, which marks the pioneer’s arrival in the Salt Lake Valley: where we remember the sacrifice that the pioneers made in their long trek across the country.

“Let us remember with gratitude and reverent respect those who have gone before us, who paid so dear a price in laying the foundation for that which we enjoy this day.” (Gordon B. Hinkley)

We are all very proud of Xander, as he has graduated from his current level of swimming class, and is ready to go to the next level. He is the only one in his class to move on. Both of the boys love the water, and go swimming the the back every chance they get.

We woke up super early to go to the hot air balloon festival. Unfortunately, when we got there it was too foggy for the balloons to take off. Luckily they blew up a few balloons and let us go up and look at them, and ask the owner’s question. Then we walked around, saw an old bomber, fed some animals, and went back home to sleep.

We didn't make it camping this weekend because of the threat of weather, but we had already promised the kids that we would do something fun. So we decided to go to the Fowlerville County Fair.

Fairs are great for rides, animals, and food and we took advantage of all of those. We were a little early, but we saw a few horses and cows. We even saw a few sea lions swimming around in a tank. We ate lots of good food like bbq chicken, and funnel cakes. We even tried the deep fried Oreos.

Yummy!

We had a great 4th of July! Sunday night we went to a friends house to watch fireworks over the lake by our house, then on the 4th we went to a flag-raising and pancake breakfast at church (yummy!). Then has some fireworks at home that night. A fun time all around!

July 1: Japanese Dinner

Our Japanese Dinner

On the way back from the Asian Store in East Lansing, we decided that a simple Japanese dinner would be yummy for dinner. It was more work than we expected, but we had a delicious meal of: Shrimp and Mushroom Tempura, Seasoned Rice, Cucumber and Wakame Salad, Layered Eggs, and Homestyle Miso Soup

Yummy!
