Oct. 12 - Snow

So, I mentioned a change in the weather the other day. Well, today Mother Nature decided to remind us where we live, and what we have to look forward to. It snowed. While the white carpet didn’t stick around, it is a harsh reminder that it is getting cold. Time to put an extra blanket on the bed and clean up the grill. Boo hoo.

The lemongrass plants were no exception. It is hard to believe how big our 3 small lemongrass plants have grown. We have way more than we need to make it until next year, and given the fact that most people don’t know what lemongrass is, it is hard to give away. We have had a lot of fun with our garden this year, and hope to expand it next year. Anyone want some lemongrass?

Fund Raising Time Again!!!

Hello everyone,
It is the time of year where we ask you to buy overpriced foodstuff to support our children. This year Xander is selling Schwan's foodstuffs. If you get a chance please take a look.

To order online, go to www.schwansfundraising.com, click Start Shopping and enter our campaign ID of 1002232. Apparently, you can enter Xander's name at check out so that he is credited with the sale. Let me know if you ordered anything, so we can take it off of our quota.

Thanks everyone!

September: Xander Back to School

Xander has gone back to school. He is having a lot of fun at pre-school and Chinese school. Khai wants to go to school too. Every day he asks if he can go too. He wants to grow up so quick, but we want them to stay this age forever.

September 2: Michigan Football

My return to school has made me elegable for student tickets to the University of Michigan games. It is a lot of fun to go, and Michigan is playing really good this year. Ranked number 6, and hopefully they are not done yet. GO BLUE!

We had a lot of fun with our garden this year. We planted tomatoes, beets, cauliflower, broccoli, peas, beans, corn, lemongrass, jalapeno peppers, pumpkins, and squash. It has been a yummy summer!

August 29: Khai Loves to Paint

Both of our kids like to draw, but Khai really enjoys it. Here is Khai putting his painting skills to work, and sharing his art with us. I could see this selling for a few million at a modern art show. But I could be a little biased.

Our visit to Toronto was a lot of fun! We went to the wonderful Toronto Zoo, the Toronto Science Center, and ate lots of yummy Chinese food. (If you go make sure you eat at Big Mouth Kee). Can't wait for our next trip!

The zoo was really nice, with lots of beautiful paths, and not too many people. We had a nice cool day to walk around too. We saw every animal in the zoo, and we were worn out afterwards. You can see in the picture here, that we got the chance to see a mommy orangutan breast feeding her baby. It was a really special event.

If you look at the rest of the pictures, you will see that Khai thinks that he is one of the goats. he really loves hanging out with them. The mama goat is not always as happy about the situation, but she has only butted him once.

August 2: Hot Enough to Cook an Egg

On a hot August day, The kids and I decided to see if it was hot enough to cook an egg outside. With a little bit of prep work, it was indeed hot enough.

Here we lined a class bowl with aluminum foil, and put a smaller bowl in it. We put plastic wrap on top, and in no time, we had a cooked egg.
